A Long Absence or Maybe a Return

Chatting to someone the other day about blogs and blogging I remembered this blog, set up many moons ago.  To my surprise it is still here, in essence at least, although the format was in need of updating.  Whilst I will never be a regular daily blogger; I got that out of my system as a youngster by filling in a diary every day for probably ten years, It would be good to have somewhere to post things of interest for posterity.  That thought brings me to the permanence of things, the aforementioned diaries are probably decomposing under some land fill somewhere but how long will these words last?  I wonder what happens to these words, long after I have stopped pumping?  Who will read them; who could be bothered to read them?  Perhaps the most universal of all questions is 'why?'
